No holiday event in Ohio stands out like the annual "Deck the Halls" event at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens.  The largest private home in Ohio was built in 1911 by the founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Frank Seiberling.  The Tudor style mansion comes alive with holiday splendor with over a million lights throughout the 70-acre estate.  This tour also features Castle Noel, the world's largest museum of holiday movie memorabilia, and a performance of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker by the Ohio Ballet at the historic Akron Civic Theatre.

After years of playing pranks on her family and friends, candy shop owner Lydia Miller experiences real-life holiday danger when two men break into her shop to steal her coveted candy recipe.  But what began as a burglary, quickly escalates into a kidnapping when the burglars, rebuffed by Lydia with how much the town loves her and will come after them if they harm her in any way, figure they can make far more money in ransom pay.  Unfortunately, being the Amish girl who cried wolf once too often, the town believes the note is just another one of Lydia's pranks and they pay it no mind.  This leads to a hilarious back and forth between the kidnappers, the police chief, the bishop, the mayor and various family members and friends.  This new musical is performed at the Blue Gate Theatre in Shipshewana, IN.  We'll enjoy the Blue Gate's delicious Amish family-style meal before the afternoon show. Travel with us to Sugarcreek, Millersburg and Walnut Creek, the heart of Ohio's Amish Country. Meet our local step-on guide and begin the day at Hershberger's Bakery and Farm Market, the largest Amish family owned bakery.  Shop their full line of delicious baked goods and browse the fresh produce in the farm market.  Mid-day we'll dine on a family-style feast of Amish favorites as we enjoy a meal in an Amish home.  After lunch we'll visit Schrock's Heritage Village where you can shop the antique mall, craft mall and leather shop, all within easy walking distance and a great variety!  Then shop for apples and cider at Hillcrest Apple Orchard, and our last stop will be at Walnut Creek Cheese and Bulk Food Store.  Of course, time is allowed for shopping at each stop we make and you'll receive a "goodie" to take home with you.
